The Client
This Client is the world’s no. 1 technology company and Starcom manages the business across around 80 markets globally.
This role is to manage our Global Digital responsibilities. Starcom has a long term global relationship with this client, and while each market is responsible for planning and buying at a local level, best practice and operational process are frequently coordinated and shared at a Global level.
Our work stretches across product divisions from TVs, to hand held devices to domestic appliances, air conditioners, laptops, printers and semi-conductors. This Client is leading and constantly reacting to market conditions and can be extremely demanding with multiple campaigns requiring competitive overviews, audience analysis, budget allocations, market situation overviews, and local campaign’s status simultaneously.
Our Client want to get to the future first and needs an agency that can help them get there and respond according to their fast-paced, technologically advanced line up.

Department Profile
The Starcom International department is unique to the agency. We are the headquarters and Centre of Excellence for all of this clients globally owned businesses. The International team works across multiple markets and continents with a breadth of unique individuals that have different backgrounds and specialties. Account sizes vary from network managing 2 to 50 countries.
The Team
The team is based in New York, as the Centre of Digital Excellence consists of individuals with different backgrounds, skill-sets and interests who are united by their passion for understanding people and the motivation power of different types of communication. 
While media is at the core of what we do, we are increasingly having conversations around success metrics for the business as well as improving areas such as global data management, process efficiencies etc.
We constantly strive to push boundaries in regards to communications, balancing our reporting and detailed analytics with our clients’ unique and demanding ways of working.  Quick turn-arounds can be the rule not the exception, and having a solid team behind the product helps make it manageable on a day to day basis. We must and do love what we do.

The Role
As the fully-dedicated Global Digital Associate Director, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership across all touch points on the below, reporting directly into the Global Digital Director, providing strategic guidance and lead operational efficiencies on the account. This role is critical to managing and maintaining strong client and Starcom network relationships and ensuring that all products which leaves the region is of an exceptional standard.
The smaller team is managing:
  • Global Digital Deals & Deal & Strategic Workshops around the globe.
    Managing 10 key digital partners for the client, from negotiation, spend reporting, forecasting.
  • Pilots / Innovations across different regions and markets, and different disciplines like Programmatic, Mobile, Search and Video (not full list)
  • Strategic Guidelines / Playbooks / Educational materials & Capability Management (Global)
  • KPI project: defining global KPI systems for all markets.
  • Inspirational Sessions for various markets and RHQs.
  • Audits – conducting on different topics around the globe, from service level to spend reporting.  
    Other tasks:
  • Day-to-day management of partners and ensuring communication between markets and key partners (sometimes policing the process too)
  • Ensure team is carrying out duties by:
    • Managing client expectations including management of client status, other reporting systems
    • Managing client expectations on regular and ad-hoc requests
  • Regular team meetings (status)
  • Management of on and offline reporting delivery and analysis – ensuring region delivers on all promised aspects of media
  • Billing and Financial Control – oversight of financial management as executed by Financial Operations Executive – Appropriate client management and collaboration with Starcom HQ where appropriate. Flawless execution and follow-through of all financials is account critical
  • Ensure training and best practice sharing across the region; Manage team to ensure area experts provide local market training as and when needed. Share best practices from global and other regions
  • Build relationships across the Starcom network and ensure constant collaboration with RHQs and local markets for global deliverables
  • Foster and own relationships with all other Samsung business agencies - Creative, social media etc., as well as external media partners
  • Provide support and often lead in production of key presentations and reviews
  • Being pro-active.  You take an active role in helping your team to get their work done better and more quickly; bringing your energy, enthusiasm and ideas 
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate should have 6+ years of media agency experience, be an established Associate Director in Starcom terms. They must have experience in communications planning and activation across all media channels (where possible) and exhibit excellent attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and the ability to be a proactive, adaptive, flexible day-to-day account leader.  Pragmatism is the key: we work to tight deadlines where getting the answer on time, regardless is paramount.
We are looking for someone who can be calm, work well under pressure, be solutions-orientated and pragmatic rather than perfectionist. It is critical that the potential candidate has the ability possess strong project management skills and be passionate about the clients business.
The ideal candidate has expertise in digital activation, including Programmatic (managing DMPs, DSPs and building different audience segments). Data is key, understanding its role and importance on a global level is crucial.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • At least six years of experience in digital media – digital buying/negotiations/investment
  • 3+ years of management experience required
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues and vendors
  • Be versed in both Digital platforms and technology having a POV on hot industry topics and trends
  • Solid and up-to-date understanding of media and the changing media landscape.
  • Strong digital knowledge and familiarity with traditional media (OOH, TV, Print, etc.).
  • Ability to drive projects from conception to completion; project management experience  
  • Ability to explain complex and technical approaches in simple language that is relevant and meaningful to general marketers; Be able to explain complex ideas to audiences both sophisticated and novice to digital media
  • Act as thought leader resource to client on the landscape of digital media, technology and platforms globally
  • Ability to think outside the box and beyond the banner to drive and inspire creativity developing bespoke custom programs and sponsorship alignments elevating client brand(s)
  • Establish and steward an innovation agenda for testing and learning with key global partners;
  • Strong marketplace knowledge and relationships especially among key global partners; have an eye on emerging media platforms that could qualify as the next partner
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to client needs and evolving briefs and situations.
